The TV anime series Angelic Layer was adapted by studio Bones, based on a manga by CLAMP. The story takes place in the same universe as the mangaka group's later work Chobits, which deals with similar themes about the relationship between humans and machines. The anime follows a 12-year-old named Misaki Suzuhara. She has just gotten involved in Angelic Layer, a battling game using electronic dolls called angels.
