You need to read the Light Novel

Thats the link to BT read volume 1 and 2 and the Aria SS and you'll think its even better ForOnewrote on Apr 30, 2012 at 15:17 @ Shiki
It is not wrong with the synopsis, he is a really good programmer who have a good sense with computers (kirito that is), Kayaba Akihito on the other hand is a genius within quantum physics, stop messing up the facts :) ForOnewrote on Apr 30, 2012 at 15:24 @ Stokky
If it says that Akihiko is the genius programmer, it have to be wrong since the only thing I've read about him is that he is a genius within quantum physics and Kirito looks up to him in the beginning because he made the Nerve gear and owned a big part of the company that made SAO (Or maybe he helped make that too, have to check up on that).
P.S. After they came out of SAO and ALO, Kirito started working on programming a new system which made it possible to see from inside VR what happend IRL with a camera and stuff (don't know how it worked exactly). Shikiwrote on May 4, 2012 at 21:34 @ForOne:
I am not messing with the facts. Kirito is good at programming but his not a "genius". The one they referred to based on the synopsis was Akihiko and he was the designer of SAO and the Nerve Gear. Sure it said that his a genius in quantum physics and Kirito did look up to him. But this doesn't mean the synopsis was right for saying Kirito was a genius. The novel never mentioned that he was but only said he was skilled with computers in general and could built one from scrap pieces. The camera you are referring to must be the one in volume 7 and volume 8's Caliber SS. Well that was something he and his classmates learned to do at school...Meaning probably all his classmates knew how to do that since a couple of them were helping him set it up for Yuuki (v07).
Anyone who read the novel would know that the synopsis they had from AN was wrong. It was also discussed on MAL. I don't think anyone should just call Kirito a genius without any solid proof from the novels. Having a good insight about programming doesn't make one genius. Tru3wrote on May 11, 2012 at 17:07 I gotta agree. Kazuto just kinda fell into computers and through experience and fast learning became adept at them and over time as he gained experience became knowledgable about them and you expect it from someone learning about it since childhood. He became kind of a loner though. basically a computer Otaku. Not Genius level but definitely in tje upper ranges. anonymouswrote on Feb 4, 2013 at 18:23 Spoiler, don't read if that offends you.
Kirito built his own computers and gaming console. He studied quantum physics and actually have comprehensive knowledge of it at young age. He was able to program Yui into Crystal object within seconds, preventing her from being deleted. He was able to build a robot and program a software that allowed a person to dive into the robot to attend classes. Later on, he is helping with development of virtual AI that is capable of it's own thinking and evolving just like a person. All before age 20. He is also considered person of high interest to the government due to his knowledge of virtual world and it's effects on real world. If that isn't a genius, I don't know what is. Pedramwrote on Feb 24, 2013 at 18:13 WoW Cool man , u just made me go Restart reading The novel where i left at Vol 7 ....
anyway , Kirito sure is a Genius but is not be the Genius programmer which was refereed to at the start of the show , that was Akihiko ,
