The anime project Toei Robot Girls blends various franchises from Toei Animation's catalog, into some sort of mecha / magic girl anime, with girls cosplaying as various Toei anime robots - including Gaiking, Magnerobo Ga-Keen, Superhuman Combat Team Baratack, and Planet Robot Danguard Ace. The project was launched in 2009 to promote such various Toei works. In the backstory created for the project, the Toei Robot Girls Laboratory was established to protect Earth from the threat of space invasion. The laboratory gathered the data from super robots who have protected Earth in the past, and then used that research to imbue "cute girls" with their legendary powers. (based on ANN synopsis)
