The TV anime series Hakuouki is based on a series of yaoi'ish games released by Idea Factory for the PlayStation 2 and PSP. The first game's story centers around a female protagonist and the historical Shinsengumi samurai group in Kyoto during the 19th century.

This show was the sh**. Everyone in Shinsengumi was a bad a**. Saito was the best though he was so fricken awesome he was the only one in the end that didn't become a fake oni. He is awesome. Other than that this show was perfect, the fighting was great, I love the type of animation, and the romance wasn't rushed at all. what a perfect samurai anime.

i wish there were more shows like this one. I like the way the anime is drawn to and the whole setting. The year and the whole samurai thing is just awesome they need to make more. The Shinsengumi are bad ass
