The non-ero visual novel Steins;Gate was developed by the Japanese studios 5pb. and Nitroplus, as a "hypothetical science adventure" game. The story takes place in Tokyo's Akihabara district, one year after the events of Chaos;Head - the game's prequel of sorts from 2008. Steins;Gate was originally released for the Xbox 360 in October 2009, followed by ports for the PC (July 2010), PSP (June 2011) and PS3 (May 2012). The game also received a fan disc titled Steins;Gate: Hiyoku Renri no Darling, likewise released on multiple platforms.
