From the realm of "Good News/Bad News", we receive word that
Paprika, the latest animated film from Satoshi Kon, is now
eligible for an Oscar 2007 nomination, in the oh-so-unfair category of "Best Animated Feature Film". First of all, this thingy requires a premiere in LA by the end of this December, which would not be a trouble unless evil minds are plotting yet again against "outsiders" wining the award. Well, at least Paprika was received preety good by fans and even by critics, so it might get that one shot to reach the finals. I don't expect it to win though, because of the absolutely awesome (not) Cars (Pixar's home brewed "politically correct" movie), which will probably get all the votes, behind the scenes of course, because, well, it's native. I can give you a whole list of animated films that should have gotten the Oscar but didn't, including
Beyond The Clouds and
Moving Castle. Eh, well, I guess their tastes differ from ours, in a very sick and perverted way.
