Forgive them, loli Jesus, for they have sinned. Production I.G have tainted themselves once more, by associating their name with another Western project that we would've otherwise overlooked: an animated series based on Electronic FArts' upcoming blasphemy of a game called Dante's Inferno. Far from being a faithful interpretation of Dante Alighieri's classic poem "Divine Comedy", the game looks like a brainless wipefest, defiling the original work in every possible way. Don't expect much more from its so-called "anime" version, either.

This Dante's Inferno animated project was revealed some time ago as a collection of 6 shorts, each running for about 10 minutes, and each one created by a different studio - some from Japan, some from Korea. The whole charade is being run by Electronic Arts and Film Roman, a subsidiary of Starz Media.

Production I.G and director Shukou Murase (Ergo Proxy, Witch Hunter Robin) are the latest names confirmed to be involved in the project, after director Yasuomi Umetsu (High School Girls, Kite / Kite Liberator, Mezzo) also confessed his sinful collaboration a couple of months ago.

The game should be released in 2010, so there's no point in waiting for the "anime" anytime sooner. Then again, there's no point in waiting for it at all.
