That tiny little flicker of hope that fans of
Full Metal Panic! were still hanging on to, four years after the last FMP anime, is being reignited by today's hot
rumor claiming that a new season is currently being prepared. Aside from
"when?" and
"what format?", perhaps a more burning question right now would be: is it a sequel to the original series, or to that goofy spin-off
Fumoffu? That, assuming the rumor will actually come true.

All hope right now lies with a certain female staffer of a certain manga store called Mandarake, who spilled the beans all over her corner of the internets, implying that the new anime season will continue on a more serious note, unlike Fumoffu.
"Ms. Miyazaki, a staff of secondhand manga store Mandarake, leaked in the web column that a new season of Full Metal Panic! gets under way. She said the new season is probably based on the main story of the original novel. The source of the information is unknown."
By the way, I wonder what happened to that live-action FMP movie project
announced by Mandalay Pictures back in April. Just a week later, the project was already said to be at a point
"where it's more than likely not going to happen". But who knows...
