FUNi's Strike Witches Censored, After All

The short-lived joy of seeing the Strike Witches lolis butt-naked in FUNimation's streaming this week has already been put to a disappointing (albeit predictable) end. It was a nice marketing trick they pulled, and don't bother arguing that they ever expected to continue streaming the uncensored version for free; not in the United States of Puritanism.



Yesterday we noticed that their streaming website was suddenly taken down for "maintenance operations". And it's as we feared: when the site came back up, gone was the censored version, thanks to certain party poopers who felt the need to petition FUNi about it. Way to go! The official explanation (via Gia) goes like this:

"As our fans know we have always released the series we license in their original, uncut form, as their creators intended. However, due to the mature content contained within the series Strike Witches and the feedback we received from some of our fans following its streaming launch on www.funimation.com, we have replaced the originally posted unedited episodes with their edited versions. Fans of the series will be able to purchase the uncut episodes when the series is released on DVD as well as any subsequent subscription or download-to-own digital platforms."

I bolded that part above to show just how ridiculous it sounds: really, what kind of a "fan" would ask for censorship? Because paying for naked flying lolis is so much better - of course, it all makes sense now!
