The neverending TV anime series
Gintama marches on with over 180 episodes aired so far, and come next spring, reinforcements are due to arrive. Specifically, an anime film titled
Gintama: Shinyaku Benizakura-Hen (Gintama: Benizakura Arc - A New Retelling) has been confirmed to premiere in Japan in 2010 during the Golden Week - which lasts from April 29 to May 5. So there you have it: the rumor that began last month is now set in stone, as Warner Bros. opened an official
website for the upcoming movie.

Some keen-eyed folks noticed that the "gintama-movie.com" domain had been registered by Warner one month ago, on October 5. And a couple of weeks later, a Gintama movie adaptation was indeed
revealed in the pages of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. So this week's outcome was quite predictable... or it should've been, had we actually done our job, instead of rerolling another WoW / Aion character.
As with the TV series, studio Sunrise is also the one producing this movie - for which they are animating a new version of the Benizakura story arc. With emphasis on
"animating", so don't go believing Wikipedia's listing of a live-action Gintama movie. That one's still just wishful-thinking at this point.
