All right, now that we're back on track with the generic anime news (I may have cheated a bit with that checkpoint), it's time to get down to some serious loli business. With emphasis on loli, rather than on serious. If you have the slightest interest for JRPGs, you must be aware by now of Gust's awesome-looking and -sounding sequel Ar tonelico III for the PS3. It was recently announced by Namco Bandai and Banpresto, and already it has a Japanese release planned for January 28, 2010. Plus a couple of trailers, tons of screenshots and other juicy visuals on the side.

Several details about the game's story, world, characters, gameplay and its intriguing music system were revealed at an event last month, and over on the official website (check it out for the catchy music). The Banzai! Effect has done a good job of summarizing most of that info here and here; except they didn't insist upon the most prominent feature that caught people's attention and moistened their napkins. Namely that the heroines will increase their powers by... showing more skin.

As game producer Kawachi Atsunori explained at the event:
"The reason behind how the heroine costumes start showing more skin when they activate songs [is] that "By showing more skin, they are able to absorb more of the planet's energy". There were some small snickers coming from the audience after hearing this, but he continued saying:

"The world can only be saved because the heroines took off their clothes!"

And everybody laughed and clapped their hands."

Hell yeah, that's the spirit! My new most wanted game set to Ar tonelico III - check. By the way, the full title is actually Ar tonelico III: Sekai Shuuen no Hikigane wa Shoujo no Uta ga Hiku, which literally translates to "The Girl's Song that Pulls the Trigger of the World's Demise". The plot thickens!

I'll leave you with this generous batch of screenshots and artworks, and if you want to make sure you'll get your hands on Ar tonelico III when it comes out, you can pre-order it here.
