Talk about kicking some serious ass! Not even
Ponyo's
awards-sweeping spree last year can't compare with the crushing monopoly set by
Summer Wars, at this year's 9th Tokyo Anime Awards. Hosted by the Tokyo International Anime Fair (TAF), the competition has recently
announced its winners across the various categories; although the award ceremony itself will only take place on March 27, during the actual TAF 2010 convention.

The heavyweight categories topped by Summer Wars are as follows: Animation of the Year for 2009, Best Domestic Feature Film, Best Director (Mamoru Hosoda), Best Original Story (Mamoru Hosoda yet again), Best Screenplay (Satoko Okudera), Best Art Direction (Youji Takeshige) and Best Character Design (Yoshiyuki Sadamoto). Epic pwnage.
Other titles to be awarded in the animation department were
K-ON! and
Eden of the East (both of which took the honors in the Television category), along with
Eve no Jikan (Time of Eve) in the Original Video category, and
WALL-E in the International Feature Film category.
Over in the audio department,
Bakemonogatari's Hiroshi Kamiya won the Best Voice Actor award for his role as Ararararagi, and
Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance won the Best Music award for its soundtrack composed by Shiro Sagisu.
