Gainax Anime Is Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt

A post-victorian loli would've been fine, too, for studio Gainax's new anime project. But as it turns out this week, instead of just one loli, we'll actually be getting two of them! A blondie named Panty, and a black-haired goth loli named Stocking. By their powers combined, they are - or rather will be - Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt. Or Pansuto for short.



Up until last week, the only thing known about this new Gainax anime project was that it would be set in England, between 1900 and 1930. As the story continued to develop this week, the first solid details began to emerge about the core staff working on this anime, and a little bit more about its plot.

At least 5 veterans from the team that animated Gurren Lagann are reuniting for Panty & Stocking, including director Hiroyuki Imaishi, assistant director Masahiko Otsuka, main character designer Atsushi Nishigori, concept artist Yoh Yoshinari, and coordinator Shigeto Koyama - if any of the names ring any bells.

As for the updated story, aside from being set in the early 1900s England, it will follow two angels kicking ass on Earth. One of them is a teen-celebrity-like blond-haired girl named Panty, and the other one a black-haired goth loli girl named Stocking. The two are angels sent from the heavens to battle the "Ghosts" on Earth.
