Another bad news today (last one, yakusoku!) comes from DC Comics co-publishers Dan Didio and Jim Lee. In a statement issued this morning, they are announcing the upcoming closure of the CMX Manga publishing label, as of July 1, 2010. The remaining manga volumes scheduled for release this June will still make it, but after that, all series are being abandoned.

The sole exception to this mass-cancellation is the manga series Megatokyo, which will be kept alive under DC Comics' parent brand. For now, the official website is still listing Volume 6 of Megatokyo for a June 16 release. Also, here are the last few manga volumes shipping out from CMX throughout June 2010:
- Musashi #9 - Vol. 17 (June 23)
- Polyphonica: Cardinal Crimson - Vol. 1 (June 23)
- Two Flowers for the Dragon - Vol. 6 (June 23)
- Venus Capriccio - Vol. 4 (June 23)

- Orfina - Vol. 8 (June 30)
- Stolen Hearts - Vol. 2 (June 30)
- Teru Teru x Shonen - Vol. 7 (June 30)

Not sure what the logic is behind releasing that first volume of Polyphonica: Cardinal Crimson at this point. But, then again, I'm also not sure who would buy any of the other volumes, whose series will now remain unfinished. Unless DC decides to revive them at some point, or some other publisher gets the license for an English translation.

So there you have it: Viz Media slashed its staff by 40% last week, Go! Comi seems to have gone kaput, and now CMX Manga is also closing. Bummer.
