Yesterday brought the announcement of
Stitch! Zutto Saikou no Tomodachi - the third anime series created by studio Madhouse, based on Disney's "Lilo & Stitch" animation film, and the latest addition to this year's approaching
Summer anime season. According to an
update on the TV Asahi website (via
ANN), this new anime will begin airing in Japan from July 6.

The subtitle translates to "Always the Best of Friends", and sure enough the titular alien creature Stitch will continue to stick with its human friend Yuuna. This time, however, they are moving from Izayoi (the fictional island off the shore of Okinawa, where the first two seasons were set), to "New Town" - a fictional town in Okinawa, where Yuuna transfers to a new school.
A new cast of friends is said to await them there, as well as a new crisis approaching from space. So plenty of "new" stuff to be enjoyed by those who've been following this laid-back (but still out-of-this-world) anime.
