Getting a good vibe
down here, for some reason... must be the goth loli pictured below. Her name is Dalian, and she's the gatekeeper of a library full of forbidden demonic books, from a light novel series called
Bibliotheca Mystica de Dantalian - also known as Dantalian no Shoka.
Aaand, after today's
announcement (via
ANN), we can start looking forward to seeing her in anime form.

Exactly what kind of form and from what animation studio, the report does not seem to indicate. Although it does say that more details will be revealed in the August issue of Kadokawa Shoten's The Sneaker magazine, out in Japan on June 30.
The original light novels are written by Gakuto Mikumo (author of
Asura Cryin') and illustrated by G Yuusuke. The aforementioned magazine has been serializing it since 2008, and so far it was compiled into 5 volumes, the last of which was released this April. Two manga adaptations have also been launched, back in March, so the upcoming anime adaptation seems rather natural.
ANN's outline of the light novels' story sounds promising enough, though the anime could certainly turn out to be a piece of generic crap. But let's hope it won't.
"The story centers around a young man named Huey who inherited a musty old estate, as well the entire book collection contained therein, from his grandfather. Huey meets Dalian, a girl in a black dress who is quietly reading in the basement piled high with books. Dalian controls the gateway to the Bibliotheca Mystica de Dantalian, the forbidden books of demonic wisdom."
