Another summer, another trip to the mountains, another "radio silence" here on Animekon... Say, there wouldn't happen to be any anime editor volunteers out there, would there?... Well, it was worth a shot. So getting back to work, it looks like there's enough overdue stuff piled up in our backyard, since that mid-June
anime news round-up, to warrant not just one, but two more round-ups. This one covers the final days of June, and the next one will move on to the July novelties. Not to mention the
new anime season swinging into gear these days.

The first 22 minutes of last month's anime film
Welcome to the Space Show are still being
streamed on YouTube by Aniplex, with English subtitles. That alien Puchi is such a pedobear! Or is it pedodog?
The anime series
Durarara!! will be
extended with a "DVD-exclusive episode 25", which will be included on the final DVD volume (#13), releasing in February 2011. Author Narita said that it
"will not be the story's finale as such, but a bonus epilogue".
The furry CG animation series
Cat Shit One begun streaming this July 17, as announced in that
new trailer that we've uploaded earlier this month. Between then and September 20, the first 22-minute episode of Cat Shit One is streamed for free on IDA Entertainment's YouTube channel, but sadly only in Japan.
Infinite Stratos, originally a "high-speed school battle romantic comedy" light novel series, is being
adapted into a TV anime. A weapon system which "can only be used by females"? Candidates "plucked from girls from countries all over the world"?
Sounds familiar...
Just to make it clear, the upcoming
To Aru Kagaku no Railgun OVA and the extra
Railgun beach episode are actually two separate things. The latter is being released this weekend, on July 24, together with an "Official Visual Book". And the real Railgun OVA was
confirmed for an October 29, 2010 release in Japan.
An unaired special episode of
Angel Beats! will be
included on the series' 7th Blu-ray / DVD volume. At this rate, volume 7 should be out in December 2010 - in Japan, of course.
Bakemonogatari's final episode 15 ("Tsubasa Cat - Part 5") was eventually
released at the end of last month, after much delay. Albeit free, the
streaming is once again restricted to Japanese IP addresses.
The recently-ended TV anime series
Arakawa Under the Bridge will receive a
2nd season, as revealed during the first season's final episode at the end of June.
Love Live!, that "school idol project"
announced not too long ago, will kick off this August with an anime DVD,
bundled with a debut CD single. Studio Sunrise is animating it.
Bibliotheca Mystica de Dantalian is indeed the mystery "early 1900s" project that Gainax kept
hinting about. Predictable
confirmation is predictable.
There's even
more anime based on the
To Love-Ru manga coming our way, it was
announced, without any details though.
The first volume of
ToHeart2 adnext (planned for this September 23) will
include a bonus anime short story. The OVA's limited editions will also pack a dakimakura (hugging pillow) cover.
Phew... that was the easy part. Now on to the
July news round-up, hopefully before August catches us.
