Oh, so that's what it was! Earlier today I had come across a tiny, cryptic
Moon Phase report about this, but didn't know what to make of it. Luckily for us all, however,
ANN sniffed out a better-informed source from the Japanese blogosphere, and now it all makes perfect sense: a new anime titled
A Channel is said to be in the making, presumably based on bb Kuroda's comedy / slice-of-life manga of the same title.

The original source of this premature (and so far unofficial) announcement is a guy named Satoshi Kubo, who previously worked as a key animator on dozens of anime projects - including
Angel Beats!,
Working!! and
Bungaku Shoujo, to name just some of this year's titles. But here's the real kicker: it was this same guy who first
revealed the upcoming TV anime series
Super Robot Wars OG: The Inspector last month, way ahead of the official announcement. So he clearly knows what he's talking about.
Pictured above is the
cover of the A Channel manga's first and only compiled volume to date, released in December 2009, depicting the smallest of
the manga's four lolis.
"The story revolves around the everyday life of four high school girls: the flighty Run, the reckless Touru, the timid Yuuko, and the level-headed Nagi", ANN explains.
The manga's author, bb Kuroda also created a comedy / ecchi manga titled Cellphone Girl Heaven, which began serialization last year. All that remains now is to wait for the official confirmation, inevitable as it surely is.
