Great news for fans of Shimoku Kio's otaku-themed manga
Genshiken, and presumably for those of us who are more interested in its anime adaptations. According to the November issue of Kodansha's Monthly Afternoon
magazine (via
ANN), the manga will return with a new series titled Genshiken Nidaime - or Genshiken II (or even The Society for the Study of Modern Visual Culture II, if you have too much time to waste on pointlessly long titles).

The new manga will start in the same magazine's December issue, out in Japan this October 25. The story is said to focus on the yaoi-loving Chika Ogiue, the 5th president of the "Genshiken" otaku club, as she struggles to hang onto the club's freshman members (yaaay!). And the cross-dressing boy Hato will also appear (booo...).
A new Genshiken anime is also sure to follow: maybe next year, maybe in 2012, or maybe later still... But eventually it will. Right? Right!? Otherwise it's no fair!
P.S. A local
Chika Ogiue gallery is now up, which also happens to be our first Genshiken gallery.
How embarassing.
