Today's
checkpoint was getting rather lengthy, with all those Crunchyroll press releases pouring in; and even if this one isn't a breaking news anymore (it
surfaced a couple of days ago), it still stands out on its own. Not to mention that I seem to have missed the
initial announcement of a
Sengoku Basara Movie last autumn, so even more reason to elaborate.

As confirmed by now on its official
website, June 4, 2011 will mark the theatrical premiere of the Sengoku Basara (
Devil Kings) anime film in Japan. And, on that same day, a certain PSP game titled Sengoku Basara Chronicle Heroes will also be released over there.
Some random Japanese
site offers the first hints at the film's scenario, revealing that the story will take place after the end of the conflict stirred by Toyotomi Hideyoshi, but not before the Battle of Sekigahara determines the next Shogun of Japan.
The movie is being directed by Kazuya Nomura (same as with the TV anime's
2nd season), with voice actors Kazuya Nakai (Date Masamune), Souichiro Hoshi (Sanada Yukimura), Toru Ohkawa (Ieyasu Tokugawa), Tomokazu Seki (Ishida Mitsunari) likewise reprising their roles. And, once again for the sake of completion, the film's tiny
teaser trailer can now also be watched locally.
Update: In other previously-missed anime film news, there's a
Hayate no Gotoku! Movie coming sometime this year, and it sounds like this whole "2011 Hayate the Combat Butler Project" (which also includes a
live-action TV series) has even
more stuff in store for
Nagi fans. But just what kind of "stuff", I has no idea.
