I can think of at least one fictional anime (from inside an actual anime) that was later made into a real series. But this is the first time I hear about the same thing happening with a fictional game - namely the Siscalypse ass-kicking game from Oreimo, last autumn's highly popular and highly lolicious anime series.

Oreimo game

As a pretty cheap way of maintaining interest in this title, while also making an extra yen on the side, Kadokawa has launched an actual web-game called Shin Imouto Taisen Siscalypse (True Little Sister Apocalypse Siscalypse) - if only a far cry from the "original". So as of yesterday, Siscalypse is freely available on the Japanese Yahoo! MobaGe website, at least with a matching Yahoo! ID or MobaGe ID account.

Regarding that "extra yen", the way Kadokawa Contents Gate is hoping to cash in on the game is by selling items that will be added in the future. Although you'd have to be a pretty passionate Kirino / Kuroneko fan (or simply a masochist) to endure playing this "2D battle social game", even in its free version. Here's how ANN explains it, while relaying Dengeki's report.
The player selects a "little sister" character and chooses between several playing modes: versus a computer-controlled character, versus other users, a cooperative mode with a friend on the service, or a single-player campaign mode against computer-controlled characters.

By fighting many kinds of battles, the player can gain experience points and use them to make the little sister character stronger. From there, the player can get new "little sister" characters, super special moves for the characters, rare items, events with prizes on the line, and various other features that Kadokawa Contents Gate will add to the game in the future.

And some tiny screenshots from Siscalypse, below.
