The TV anime adaptation
Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai, first
announced to be in the making a couple of months ago, is now set to begin airing in Japan this upcoming
Autumn 2011 season - so from October, most likely. Also, shortly before the TV anime's premiere, a single-episode
OVA will be bundled with the 7th special-edition volume of the light novels on which the anime is based, releasing this September 22.

The original light novel series, whose title could translate to "I Don't Have Many Friends" (and is shortened as "Haganai"), is written by Yomi Hirasaka and illustrated by Buriki, with
six volumes - pictured below - published so far, since 2009; plus a couple of manga adaptations likewise being serialized since 2010. The theme seems to be that of a generic romantic school comedy, involving a cast of
characters decidedly full of issues...

A modest local
gallery is now up, and the story, as summarized on
ANN, goes something like this.
"The story revolves around Kodaka Hasegawa, a half-Japanese / half-British transfer student whose delinquent-like blonde hair scares people, and a seemingly perpetually sullen girl named Yozora Mikazuki. The two decide to form Rinjinbu, a club for people with hardly any friends."
