A wee-bit of controversy surrounding the recently-released PS3 fantasy RPG Atelier Meruru
started a couple of days ago, when Japan's Computer Entertainment Rating Organization (CERO) retracted
the game's "A" rating (for All ages), under which it initially shipped back on June 23. By now, however, the controversy is pretty much over, as CERO has already changed
the rating to "B" (for ages 12 and up) due to traces of "sexual" content. Developer Gust admitted that the game documentation it first submitted to CERO was incomplete, so for a little while it had to put further shipments of Atelier Meruru on hold. The game's actual contents remain unchanged, though.
The anime adaptation Another
, which was announced last winter as a project based on Yukito Ayatsuji's school horror mystery novel, is now set to air in 2012 as a TV anime series - as confirmed by its newly-opened website
. The page also reveals that the anime's original character designs will be created by Noizi Ito (Shana
, Suzumiya Haruhi
). The story centers around a school class that has a curse, and the string of unavoidable deaths that befall the boys and girls in that class. Sounds creepy enough!
The Tokyo International Anime Fair (TAF) will return
in 2012, between March 22-25, following this year's cancellation of the industry's (ex-)flagship event, due to the March 11 earthquake and associated disasters that struck Japan... No word yet on the status of Anime Contents Expo
(ACE), which was supposed to be held during the same weekend as TAF 2011, but was also cancelled for similar reasons. As you may recall, ACE was born out of a controversy
sparked by Tokyo's "nonexistent youths" bill, and it was expected to become the new flagship event of its kind, based on its line-up of organizers and exhibitors.
