The 6th Annual
Seiyuu Awards, recognizing the best anime voice actresses (oh yeah, and actors) from the past year's anime works, has just announced its winners. To skip straight to the point, this year's winner of the Best Lead Actress award is
Aoi Yuuki - for her role as the title character in
Puella Magi Madoka Magica.

The same anime also played host to the winner of the Best Supporting Actress award -
Emiri Katou, for her role as the red-eyed creature Kyubey (or Kyuubee, or QB, or however you wish to spell it). Emiri earned
her first Seiyuu Award - for Best New Actress - back in 2008, for her role as Kagami Hiiragi from
Lucky Star.
And speaking of Best New Actresses, this year there are two award winners in this category:
Ai Kayano (as
Meiko Honma / Menma from
AnoHana) and
Shiori Mikami (as Akari Akaza from
Yuru Yuri). For some odd reason, though, the awards for Best New Actress (or actor) were given for "performances from actresses [or actors] who debuted within the last five years".
Five years?! Sounds kind of overkill to me...
Anyway, you can check out the rest of the winners over on
ANN.
