Another new title being added to this year's
Summer anime season is a TV series called
Chouyaku Hyakunin Isshu: Uta Koi., in the making at studio TYO Animations. It will be based on Kei Sugita's historical josei (for women) manga of the same title, which
apparently translates to Utakoi: The Freely Interpreted Ogura 100 Poems. "Uta koi" itself means "love song(s)" or, in this case, "love poem(s)".

In turn, the manga is a "super-liberal interpretation" of the Hyakunin Isshu anthology compiled during Japan's Heian period (in the late 1100s), of 100 romantic poems from 100 different poets.
A
short trailer for the anime was posted on the
official website that opened this week, along with some core staff names, headed by director Kenichi Kasai (
Bakuman.,
Major,
Nodame Cantabile).
TYO Animations is also currently at work on two more anime projects: the
One Off OVA that was
announced just a few days ago, and next month's TV anime series
Ginga e Kickoff!!.
