Another new title being added to this year's Summer anime season is a TV series called Chouyaku Hyakunin Isshu: Uta Koi., in the making at studio TYO Animations. It will be based on Kei Sugita's historical josei (for women) manga of the same title, which apparently translates to Utakoi: The Freely Interpreted Ogura 100 Poems. "Uta koi" itself means "love song(s)" or, in this case, "love poem(s)".

Chouyaku Hyakunin Isshu: Uta Koi.

In turn, the manga is a "super-liberal interpretation" of the Hyakunin Isshu anthology compiled during Japan's Heian period (in the late 1100s), of 100 romantic poems from 100 different poets.

A short trailer for the anime was posted on the official website that opened this week, along with some core staff names, headed by director Kenichi Kasai (Bakuman., Major, Nodame Cantabile).

TYO Animations is also currently at work on two more anime projects: the One Off OVA that was announced just a few days ago, and next month's TV anime series Ginga e Kickoff!!.
