Yet another new anime project is being announced this week - something to be expected, given that the 2012 Tokyo International Anime Fair (TAF) has begun today. Except that this particular
announcement comes not from that event, but from the cover of
volume 8 of the fantasy web manga
Aoi Sekai no Chuushin de.

No anime format, animation studio, or release date was revealed at this time; just a couple of staffers (director Tetsuya Yanagisawa and character designer Maki Fujii), and one cast member (Nobuhiko Okamoto as the main character Gia).
From what
MAL writes, the original web manga is created by Crimson, and it features characters that are parodies of Nintendo or Sega games (Sonic the Hedgehog, Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda etc.). In the story, Segua Kingdom has been losing the war against Ninterdo Empire, but the tables are turned by the appearance of a boy called Gia / Gear - a parody of Sonic the Hedgehog.
For a taste of things to come, take a look at some of the maga covers in the anime's local
gallery - meticulously ripped from Amazon's devilish
"zoom-in" system for cover images.
Indeed, it takes a very special kind of nut-job to patch together dozens of image fragments - either that, or an obsessive-compulsive... Good thing I happen to be a bit of both, eh?
