Now that's a nice rumor! According to some dubious 2ch source, a new Darker than Black TV anime series will start airing in Japan from October! The report claims that the third anime (not counting the 2010 OVA) will be titled Darker than Black: Nanpou no Houkou - among other alternative spellings for the subtitle, which roughly translates to "Wandering through the South".

Some staff names are also being indicated, but since the claims are purely anonymous for now, we're better off waiting for a more official notice on this matter. Just for the sake of speculation, though, it's worth pointing out that studio Bones - who animated the first two DTB series - has no other project announced for this year (that I know of, anyway), beyond the ongoing series Eureka Seven AO and its complementary OVA. And that the new Eureka anime will end just beofre the Fall 2012 season. So it would be no surprise if they do confirm this third season of Darker than Black.

The second season, Darker than Black: Ryuusei no Gemini, aired in Japan from October 2009, following the original series from April 2007. About time we got a continuation, then!

First season was amazing but I can't tell the same about the ovas and sequel. Ovas were crap because all of a sudden the doll became important. The sequel was crap because all the focus was shifted toward the Russian kid and a 3rd season would be retarded.

I'm a fan and everything but I don't like when people start to scrape the bowl.

Well part of the rumor is that the 3rd season would be a prequel taking place some (10?) years before the 1st season, with the "Southern" reference in the title hinting at the old South American "Heaven's War".

Well, the 2nd season ended with an unknown creature is born, able to kill and destroy the world, so surely the 3rd season must be continuing from that point and on. Granted, I'm quite curious about the south american war. Maybe that would explain something...

So many people seem to not like the second season because the focus shifted from one character to another. Hei's story in my mind was told through the first season and the OVA's. I hope this season is more about Bai then Hei if it's a prequel because we already know what happens to him. And if it's a sequel then I hope it deals with the aftermath of the end of the second season.

well because season 2 left so many question's
there needs to be a second season epically when those two twin dolls said a new gate as open lets go visit it and I want to know who is that white haired boy that looks like yin is
