Release dates have been announced this weekend for both the Blu-ray and DVD release of Mardock Scramble: The Second Combustion, and for the upcoming theatrical premiere of Mardock Scramble: The Third Exhaust. According to the anime trilogy's official website, the second film's home video release is set for July 25 in Japan, and the third film will premiere there on September 29, 2012.

Mardock Scramble: The Third Exhaust Trailer

Accompanying these updates is the first Mardock Scramble: The Third Exhaust trailer (also streaming locally, for your convenience), which offers a glimpse at the trilogy's impending grand finale. Studio GoHands has been animating the anime films, based on Tow Ubukata's sci-fi novel series Mardock Scramble.

The original novel is about a girl who dies as her body is burned by "the bad guy". However she resurrects as a powerfully advanced cyborg, and sets herself on a path for revenge.

And for those mostly looking forward to the second film's home video release, ANN has some details about its contents:
"As with the first film, Mardock Scramble: The Second Combustion's home video releases will have the complete edition of the second film. (The Blu-ray Disc version will also have the theatrical cut of the film.) The Blu-ray Disc edition's bonus extras will include a making-of video, the footage from tie-in events (the "Ubukata Summits," the pre-opening event, and the on-stage greetings on opening day), the promotional videos, all the commercials, and audio commentaries. Bundled with the Blu-ray will be a casino-coin-shaped Micro SD card reader with card, a 60-page booklet, and a miniature version of the theatrical pamphlet."
