I.G announced on June 13 that its recalculated profits for the fiscal year ending in May 2007 dropped 36% from last year to 273 million yen (about US$2.23 million). The company cited the broadcast end of several of its series as well as a decline in DVD and merchandise sales. The sales-profit ratio dropped three points as revenue increased 2% to 5.546 billion yen (US$45.34 million).
Taken from ANN. Production I.G is one of the major Japanese animation companies, and seeing its profits drop so much over one damn year is not helping my eyes. The causes may vary, but I somehow doubt that piracy might be the main issue here.
It's most likely because all their recent stuff all fell... kind of flat (and not in the good way).
Hopefully, Ghost Hound will be awesome and they'll make big bucks from it. Though, Ghost Hound also looks really flat, it's flat in the good way.

If Ghost Hound turns out to be any flatter than Jigoku Shoujo (and hopefully less boring / repetitive), it should be a real treat for "necrololicons". And a good fap watch for the rest of us, too.
