Except for the recent
Otaku Festival, I had little reason for being proud of being a Romanian in quite a while... until today. As I was scanning through the usual anime websites, much like
Kimura-sensei scanning through a pool full of Kaorin-chans, I sniffed some
used bathing suits new details about the upcoming Lament of the Lamb live-action movie (the one my pedo comrade
mentioned a few days ago).

At that time, Tokyopop boss Stuart Levy only revealed that they would
"script the story in Hollywood, attach a Japanese director, cast in the West, and shoot in Eastern Europe". Well, now we know that Lament of the Lamb will be filmed right here in Romania - the land of alcoholic liver diseases and, of course, vampires. This should be great for the movie's setting, which in turn is based on the Lament of the Lamb (Hitsuji no Uta) manga series - a gut-wrenching horror story of a young man who shockingly discovers he may be the last in a bloodline of vampires. You know, the kind of people that suck various body fluids out of little girls?
According to the previous announcement, the movie is expected to be
"a metaphor for teenage alienation, twisted sexual desire and insanity, (...) psychological horror at its best".
Other details about the movie were also revealed - via
Anime News Network - at the Tokyo Project Gathering this weekend, where mr. Levy presented the Lament of the lamb live-action movie project. Here they are then:
