Certainly, a pleasant event to behold. And certainly, an interesting news even for us, old school lolicons.
A couple of American companies are actually doing something right for a change - NYAF (The New York Anime Festival), teaming up with the likes of VIZ Pictures, Samurai Beat Radio and Del Rey Manga will proudly host the first ever Lolita and Maid Fashion Day, on June the 7th, at one of the largest (if not the largest) Japanese bookstore in the U.S. - Kinokumya Bookstore. In New York.
This event is set to celebrate the International Lolita Day (is that even legal? If so, bring more!), and will feature all sorts of events, ranging from fashion exhibits, tea parties, cosplay, various anime and manga sales, and so on, and so forth. For a detailed schedule of this whole business (which we won't be able to attend), take a look at this here
ANN spreadsheet.
As for my own thoughts... I am truly and completely surprised that this kind of event will take place in the U.S. I thought they resented the Lolita syndrome... Or perhaps, they just think it means something else. Especially when the Show Manager himself states:
"Lolita and Maid fashion have quickly become two of the most prolific ambassadors of anime, manga, and Japanese culture in America, and the New York Anime Festival couldn't be happier bringing these fashions to New York City". Does he actually understand how funny this sounds for someone who has been spending the last few years of his miserable life jerking off to loli porn? (not that my life would be miserable).
What can I say, have fun all you who will venture there. And take lots of pictures. And upload them on the Internetz. And send me a Hazuki-chan figurine if you happen to stumble upon one.

I hope you guys find this kind of stuff there.
