Tokyograph has learned today that Mamoru Oshii has decided to use a new ballad song by young singer Ayaka as the ending theme song for his upcoming animated film, The Sky Crawlers. The song he chose is "Konya mo Hoshi ni Dakarete" (there's a live version of it on YouTube), from Ayaka's latest album "Sing to the Sky" - coming out this month. And here's a cute picture of her.


Apparently it's unusual for Oshii to use existing music in his works (Ghost in the Shell and the sequel Innocence being the most notable ones), "but he made a rare exception this time, even going as far as redoing the credits to better incorporate the song", TG writes, adding that the song will appear in the movie's trailer. Well, I sure can't hear it in the first trailer, nor in the second one, so we'll probably get one more before the premier of The Sky Crawlers, this August 2.
