The
rumor we wrote about a couple of days ago, about FUNimation sending out cease and desist letters to halt the fansubbed distribution of
Evangelion: 1.0 You (Are) Not Alone, turns out to be true, indeed. But it's also incomplete, because the company's
confirmation on Monday incriminated even more fansubbed titles targeted by similar C&D letters.
This year's
Spice and Wolf and
Soul Eater series, along with last year's Mushi-Uta and
Seto no Hanayome (My Bride is a Mermaid!) have thus joined the list of animes that you may not be able to download so easily, soon enough. You might, however, hear about them again just as soon, in future licensing agreements for North America - which often follow such frenzy of cease and desist spamming.

I can has torrent apple seed?Since FUNimation doesn't actually hold any licensing rights for those series at this time, they justified sending out the C&D letters based on
"recent authorization agreements with Kadokawa (ed. -
déjà vu)
, NTV, Media Factory, and TV Tokyo Medianet", stressing out that
"though these series are not yet licensed to a distribution company in the U.S., the rights owned by Japanese producers are still applicable, and enforceable, worldwide".
Arr yer timbers shivering yet?
