While the long-rumored PS3 version of Tales of Vesperia remains just as uncertain as it was last year, Namco's fantasy RPG for the Xbox 360 is now sure to get an anime movie in 2009. The announcement made in this month's special issue of Kinema Junpou magazine claims that Kadokawa Pictures will oversee the theatrical anime adaptation, under the direction of Kanta Kamei, while Gia speculates that Production I.G might be working on the actual animation - since they also did the anime cutscenes from the game. And as a random curiosity, this will be the 5th title in Namco's "Tales of..." RPG franchise to get the anime treatment.

At this point, either of two thoughts might be spinning aimlessly in your mind: "who the hell is Kanta Kamei?", or "where do I click for more Vesperia lolis!!?". In response to the former, ANN's typically-encyclopedic report links Kanta Kamei's name to such mediocre anime titles as Digimon: Diaboromon Strikes Back (as animation director) and the upcoming Kill Bill Chapter 3: The Origin of O-Ren (as visual supervisor). Also, this will be his full-fledged directorial debut, so don't get your hopes too high.

Now, if those Vesperia lolis are still on your mind - as they are on mine - please bare with me bear with me for just a wee bit longer, as I round them up from around the webs and expose them in our local gallery. Update incoming...

Update: It came!
