Almost a week has gone by since the initial report, and still no details emerged on this intriguing topic. So we'll just have to settle for what little is known at this time: according to a March 4 blog post by a Frontier Works staffer, said anime production company is planning to launch a new bishoujo TV anime in summer 2009. There's a teasing image for the project, if you can guess what it stands for; if not, join us in waiting for the full-fledged announcement "soon".

Correlating this with an earlier report about the vague plans of various anime studios for 2009, it should be safe to say that this new bishoujo anime will be based on a "big hit PC game" - eroge, no doubt. After all, Frontier Work has been known to produce other game-to-anime adaptations in the past, including the Air Movie, Utawarerumono or Fate/stay night.

As for their future adaptations, we're still going nuts waiting for the Higurashi Rei OVA to end this August, then there's that ToHeart2 adplus OVA coming in April, and of course we're itching to see what will become of Umineko no Naku Koro ni (When Seagulls Cry). Looks like another great year for Frontier Works. And what's great for them, is great for us.
