The 9th and final episode of the Munto anime remake aired today in Japan, but the fantasy saga doesn't end here. Later this month, a Munto manga will begin serialization in the Comp Ace magazine, and now another fresh announcement paves the way for a Munto movie that will be screened in Japanese theatres this spring, under the title Tenjou Jin to Akuto Jin Saigo no Tatakai (Last War of Heavenlords and Akutolords).
The film's website opened today, offering some visuals that you can see spread around in this post, along with various character art. As for the story, nothing's changed from the original 2003-2005 OVAs: a silly girl sees a magical world floating above our own, whose king Munto descends into her to ask for her help in saving his own crumbling world.
As if recycling the same old story wasn't enough, the Munto movie will also recycle plenty of "climactic scenes" from this year's anime, while adding some new footage. And to top it off, the resulting "director's cut" film will only be shown in two theatres (in Tokyo and Kyoto) between April 18 and May 1, 2009. There's no sign of a DVD release yet, but that may very well change eventually.
they serisously need to continue the story...it's an insanely good anime and they have left too much open...it NEEDS to continue and to have a better conclusion

Wait. I watched Ep 1-9, and I saw that episodes 1-3 were exactly from the first movie of Munto, while episodes 4-6 were from the second movie. So what your saying is that episodes 7-9 were actual tv episodes, and there will REALLY be a Munto 3 film? I'm confused. ): And I don't like the new art style of Munto from episodes 7-9! Munto looks way older with a flat nose and longer face, while Yumemi looks like those typical anime girls that wear super short dresses. I miss the old art style! I hope they use it for the third movie. ):

I do enjoy this anime, and plan on buying the movie when it is released in English. I hope that if they do not continue it as an anime, at least continue the story in the manga that is running. The problem being, will it ever be translated to English?

I'm not gonna be light about this, but...
I AM PISSED OFF YO!
They seriously shouldn't have made the movie. They already took the OVAs and made them into episodes, which I'm so okay with, but then they take the episodes and make a movie basically the same as the episodes and OVAs before!
REALLY?! People??
They can not end Munto with Munto GONE and with Ryuely saying "We will wait for him to come back..."
THAT GIVES OFF THE IMPRESSION THAT "Oh! There might be another season!"
WHICH I HOPE THERE IS!
They definitely do need to continue. They can't just end the anime with Munto away T^T

i want to know what munto and yumime's relationship is! I really got into the series after seeing a vid with other anime and this one was appealing that i saw ep. 1-9 and i was really dissapointed that it was a cliffhagger in the end when she said "we will wait for him when he returns." Was he on earth with yumemi or what happened to him? AHHH!! I was sad that they made it so short but i wonder how the manga will turn out...i hope someone uploads it.

The "movie" was just a compilation of the TV series, with some new scenes, but otherwise the same old story.

They need to make a movie that describes what the hell happens afterwords following the anime, I mean come on? What about that space time rift that never disappeared? what the hell is that for? And what happened tot he world once it merged? There's an extra scene where munto's with Yumemi but what the hell happens after that ? What about the guy that Gass "Took" away. For that matter what about the state of affairs for the world now, I mean obviously people aren't just going to be all "Happy go lucky" that this floating island appears out of fking nowhere with a bunch of magicians on it. Second Most Importantly. WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO LIKE 80 PERCENT OF THE HEAVENLY KINGDOM They show one place floating above the sky and that's the magic kingdom WHAT HAPPENED TO THE OTHER CONTINENTS, Where did Gntarl's place go to ? What happened to the Union ? This anime pisses me off despite all there is to love about it >: / I tell ya getting damned tired of cliffhanger animes that don't get all their crap done before they decide to end it. And what about Yumemi and Munto ? Where'd their relationship ever end up at ? >: /

Ohh, so the episodes are the OVAs. Why say that they are two different things? Also, this movie business better conclude what the OVA/episodes didnt. Plus I want more love between Munto and Yumemi. Badly. So much potential there.

what about the rift left in space-time? I@m crazy for some more, there are too many loose ends! at the end, Ruyely (the fortuneteller woman) is all 'we have to wait for him to return' because there's a 'meeting of representatives!' I'm so confused! I've watched the 'movies' and they're exactly the same as the ova/TV version! the first movie seems to be the end, and the second movie, the prequel! I really don't get it >_< fantastic anime though- gotta admit to that, watched it 5 times, have never become bored
