The 50th anniversary issue of Weekly Shonen Sunday hit the streets today, bringing with it the
confirmation that the magazine's next issue - out on April 22 - will mark the beginning of the highly anticipated new manga series by Rumiko Takahashi that was
announced last month. Not to be confused with her other two short manga titles released this spring, namely
Unmei no Tori and
My Sweet Sunday (pictured below).

Of course, it would be a whole lot easier if we could refer to the new manga by some specific name, but unfortunately the title still eludes us. Surely there must be one by now, if the project is mature enough for Viz to have
rushed for its license immediately after last month's announcement. The first volume of the manga translated to English should be released in North America before the end of 2009.
Meanwhile, if you're more interested in Shonen Sunday's 50th anniversary than in Takahashi's new manga,
San'Plex's post showing a 50 year time-line of the magazine's covers might be the thing for you.
