The PlayStation 3 version of Examu's cross-over fighting game Aquapazza
has suffered a one month delay, from June 28 as previously announced, to July 26. No reason for the delay was given by publisher Aquaplus, whose various franchises (including ToHeart
, Tears to Tiara
, and Utawarerumono
) are lending their characters to this game.
Aquapazza: Aquaplus Dream Match, as it's fully titled, was first released for the arcades in Japan in June 2011. Check out the game's local trailers
to see it in action.
The official website
for the upcoming anime series Ebiten
has clarified the release date and format of this project: it will start in July, and at first it will be streamed on the Japanese video service Nico Nico Douga, similar to the ongoing Upotte!!
anime. So that's one more title added to the Summer 2012
The anime, fully titled Ebiten: Kouritsu Ebi Sugawa Koukou Tenmonbu, is in the works at studio AIC Classic, based on a school otaku comedy manga (...) Continue reading 'Ebiten Anime Starts In July'...
Since today is shaping up to be a pretty slow news day, and I see no leftover anime news from the weekend, let's take a small detour into the titillating world of eroge / hentai games. The one major problem with this kind of games - and with visual novels of all age ratings, for that matter - as far as Western otaku are concerned, is their lack of availability in English. But the times are changing, and they're changing fast!
As with anime and manga, the easiest way to make hentai games available in English is, arguably, through fan translations. But unlike anime, for which fansubs can be released in just a matter of days, the classic method of translating eroge is a lot more complicated (...) So much for Shakugan no Shana III (Final)
last time fans had the pleasure of enjoying their favorite loli tsundere. It may have marked the final chapter of the main story from Yashichiro Takahashi's light novels, but the author still has one more book in the making - it was revealed
today. What kind of story will it tell, and how will it fit with the rest of Shana
's saga, it's not clear yet (a side-story, perhaps?). But if there is another book coming, you can bet your seet lollipop that it's going to get animated at some point, as well.
I.G Port, the parent company of both Production I.G and Xebec, is founding
a new animation planning and production subsidiary, called Wit Studio. This new anime studio will (...) Continue reading 'Checkpoint: Shana, New I.G Studio, Anime Shorts'...
The surprisingly popular action-RPG The World Ends With You, originally released in 2007 for the Nintendo DS, is all but officially getting a sequel (for the 3DS?), according to some not-so-subtle hints
dropped by Square Enix's Tetsuya Nomura in a recent interview. Speaking about its characters making a cameo appearance in Kingdom Hearts 3D
, Nomura mentioned that they decided to do voice casting for one of them - Rhyme - "out of consideration for the future of The World Ends With You series"
Of course, if the world would litterally end with you, such trivial gaming topics might give way to more exciting ones - high-stakes gambling, anyone?... Or if it's a more accessible kind of excitement that you're after, a couple of alternatives come to mind (...) Continue reading 'The World Ends With You Sequel Hinted'...
The anime project Code Geass: Akito the Exiled
has had its fair share of secrecy, as for the past couple of years fans had been left wondering what format this anime would take... Until a recent blog post by singer, pianist, composer and actress Ichiko Hashimoto revealed
that studio Sunrise is planning it as an OVA consisting of 4 episodes.
Each episode will run for about 50 minutes, and will receive a limited theatrical premiere at first, before the regular home video release on Blu-ray - very much like (...) Continue reading 'Code Geass: Akito the Exiled OVA Has 4 Episodes'...
This week's announcement
of a Nintendo 3DS sequel for last year's all-girls ninja action game Senran Kagura also included a bit about a TV anime series adaptation, likewise in the making. No details seem to have been provided about the Senran Kagura
anime, but the 3DS game sequel, at least, was revealed to be set for an August 30 release in Japan.
Titled Senran Kagura Burst, the new game features the opposing ninja faction
from Viper Academy as playable characters, and adds stereoscopic 3D support (...) Continue reading 'Senran Kagura Game Gets TV Anime, 3DS Sequel'...
The recently announced
TV anime To Love-Ru Darkness
will certainly not be a Summer 2012 title, now that an OVA has been revealed to come before the new TV series. According to Shueisha's Jump SQ.19 magazine, the To Love-Ru Darkness OVA
will be bundled on DVD with the limited edition 5th volume of the spin-off / sequel manga of the same title, written by Saki Hasemi and illustrated by Kentaro Yabuki, out in Japan on August 17.
Like the upcoming TV anime, the OVA is also animated by studio Xebec. It will consist of 3 short episodes (totaling about 24 minutes) that will adapt
3 extra chapters from (...) Continue reading 'To Love-Ru Darkness OVA Before TV Series'...
News of a Hori-san to Miyamura-kun
OVA adaptation may have only (re?)surfaced a couple of days ago. But according to a Twitter
update by HERO
- the author of the web manga that inspired this anime project - plans for the OVA actually date back to a couple of years ago. Still, he wasn't ready to reveal any details about it just yet.
HERO originally launched his Hori-san to Miyamura-kun web manga in 2007. Square Enix has also been publishing it as a series of compiled volumes, and they released (...) Continue reading 'Hori-san to Miyamura-kun OVA Announced'...
