The anime film Tales from Earthsea (Gedo Senki) was created by Studio Ghibli, under the direction of Goro Miyazaki (son of the more famous director and studio co-founder Hayao Miyazaki), and based on Ursula K. Le Guin's "Earthsea" fantasy novels. The movie's epic story is one of redemption and self-discovery, set in a mythical world filled with magic and bewitchment. This fantasy adventure follows the wandering wizard Ged, or Sparrowhawk in the English version. Along the way he rescues Arren, a troubled young prince fleeing from his home and pursued by an enigmatic shadow. Arren joins Ged on his quest to search for the force behind a mysterious disturbance that has caused an imbalance in the land of Earthsea, causing - among others - the reappearance of dragons. As they move closer to their intertwined destinies, they cross paths with Tenar, a former priestess, and her disfigured adopted daughter, Therru.
