The TV anime series Senkou no Night Raid is one of the first 3 titles announced by Aniplex and TV Tokyo, as part of their project "Anime no Chikara". This one is a spy action anime created by studio A-1 Pictures, and set to begin airing in Japan from April 2010. The story is set in 1931 Shanghai, when the Imperial Japanese Army has been dispatched to mainland China due to the relatively recent First Sino-Japanese War, Russo-Japanese War, and World War I. In this cosmopolitan city of intrigue, there is a special military spy organization called "Sakurai Kikan" that has since been buried in history. (ANN synopsis)
