The single-episode OVA Black Rock Shooter is animated by studio Ordet, based on huke's original character illustrations (mistakenly said to be a version of Hatsune Miku), which also inspired ryo's Vocaloid song of the same title. Several Japanese managazines are bundling this 50-minute anime on DVD, and the OVA was also streamed for free online viewing on the Nico Nico Douga website. The franchise was also expanded with a Black Rock Shooter role-playing game for the PSP, developed by Imageepoch and released on August 25, 2011. The game's opening animation was created by studio ufotable.
