Gegege no Kitarou: Sennen Noroi Uta (The Thousand-Year Curse Song) is the 2008 sequel to the 2007 live-action movie Gegege no Kitaro adapted from the classic manga / anime series. The story involves a forbidden romance between a man and a nure-onna youkai (enchantress) that has lasted a thousand years, and its consqeuences - namely a boy who is half-human, half-"youkai" (a supernatural creature). The Japanese premiere is set for July 12.

The debut trailer for Naruto Shippuuden: Kizuna (Bonds), the second Naruto Shippuuden animated movie, which is set to premiere in Japan this August 2. The film's two main characters will be Naruto and his longtime rival / part-time ally, Sasuke.

Soul Eater is the latest action / comedy anime from Square Enix and the Fullmetal Alchemist animators from studio Bones, based on a shounen manga set in the Shinigami school for weapon technicians. One of the human students, Maka Alban, is paired with Soul Eater - a living weapon whose true form is a scythe who, in order to become a "Death Scythe", must collect the souls of 99 evil humans and 1 witch, with the help of his "school"-mates.

Highlander: The Search for Vengeance is an animated film from Madhouse and director Yoshiaki Kawajiri (Ninja Scroll, Animatrix: Program). The story centers on Colin MacLeod, the immortal Scottish Highlander, as he travels with the wise-cracking ghost Amergan in search of the immortal despot Marcus Octavius, who killed Colin's lover on the Celtic plains centuries earlier. The once great city of New York is now submerged under water, with only one dominant fortress towering over the sea, the fortress of Marcus Octavius. MacLeod is torn between saving the survivors of New York and hunting down his nemesis. (ANN description)

"This is the sequel, and the end..." So begins this trailer for ef - the latter tale, the new visual novel game developed by Minori, with top-notch animations by Makoto Shinkai (5cm per Second, Beyond the Clouds, Voices of a Distant Star). The game's release is set for May 30.
